This southern route to Manor starts at the Peddler. We ride over to Springdale, and from there head east on Loyola to Johnny Morris Rd. with a turn onto the Manor bike trail at Daffan. ... moreAt Lindell Lane we head south on Blue Bluff then east to Taylor Lane. After a nice downhill stretch on Parsons Road, we turn left on Littig Road and ride into Manor. Our return route is on country lanes and then neighborhoods back to the Peddler. The terrain is mostly rolling hills.

Parking is available north of 51st on Duval and on side streets around the Peddler. Please don't park in the alley behind the Peddler and The Flight Path Coffee House.

We will leave promptly at 8:30am. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for sign in and ride orientation.

RIDE NAME AND DISTANCE: Northwest Flatlands (short version). 30 miles. DATE/TIME: Friday 25th April. 10:00 a.m. RIDE LEADER/CONTACT: William Hudson; 210-387-7340; WilliamPedalsOn@gmail.com ... more

DESCRIPTION: An urban ride that manages to avoid any serious hills in spite of being on the NW side of town EXCEPT Rain Creek. It combines bits of three of our other rides and goes Rosedale > Mesa > Aboretum and then back via a similar route. We try and avoid heavily-trafficked roads whenever possible. Optional store-stop en route.

AVERAGE SPEED: 12 - 15 mph. A guide only; actual pace depends on the group and to maintain this average, there will be some significantly faster stretches.

TERRAIN: Generally “flatish” with a couple of rollers + Rain Creek.

RIDER LEVEL: Experienced, self-confident riders who are comfortable and very safe in a group riding situation which could include pace-line riding, hilly terrain and exposure to significant urban traffic.

RIDE START ADDRESS AND url: 2511 Great Oaks Parkway, Austin, Tx 78756 (Rosedale). https://goo.gl/maps/MkRhRoVGEZt

MAP/CUE/RideWithGPS: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14011934

A "Little" Longer Weekend Ride----. Bring some Carrots for the Donkeys!!
This is a very quiet scenic ride thru east Williamson County, starting from Lake Pflugerville (North parking lot). A quiet, (mostly country roads) ride thru northeast Travis, southeast ... moreWilliamson, & northwest Bastrop Counties. We'll pedal by Taylor's Murphy Park & Lake, thru "bustling" Thrall, and by the scenic/historic Lawrence Chapel, Cemetary, & log cabin. We'll plan for a quick visit with "The Friendly Donkeys" on the way home thru Coupland --- bring some "snacks" for the donkeys!! We'll be on many quiet country roads for this mostly flat (only 1892 ft. of climbing--per RidewithGPS). We'll have TWO STORE STOPS: at 28 miles (the Food Market in Thrall) and at 53 miles (Citgo Station in Coupland).

NOTE I: Helmuts are required on all Bike Austin rides.

NOTE II: I don't have maps, but Q-sheets will be available and the RidewithGPS version is attached for electronic downloading.

NOTE III: Please arrive with you and your bike ready to ride 72 miles for a 7:45 AM ride start meeting for a PROMPT roll-out at 8:00 AM.

Weather permitting, this will be 80% at a mellow pace, 20% very hard in three specific "hot spots". No drop; we'll regroup after stoplights or anywhere the group can get split, and ... moreafter each hot spot; and refuel at the Creedmoor Valero station. C pace home again. Coffee and conversation afterwards at Mozart's.

Because of the in-town stretches, this ride agerages about 15. That's the average speed your computer will show after the ride, with stoplights, turns, hills, etc. But to average 15 you need to ride 15-18 most of the time on the flats, so please come expecting that.

Please be sure to arrive a little early for signup and rider's meeting.

BE SURE TO CHECK THIS SITE AFTER 7:00 ON RIDE DAY IN CASE OF RAIN CANCELLATION.

START LOCATION: meet (and park) at the back of the "uphill" parking lot across Lake Austin Blvd. from the coffee shop. Look for the old boat on your left up the hill; we're near there.

Yes, that's right - a fat burner ride: long and steady, no sprints. Those 8 pounds from Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years are still there, so it's time for long miles. Not long HARD ... moremiles, just long miles, so this time we're doing 55 miles on one of our usual routes. Longer rides later. No drop; we'll regroup if necessary anywhere the group can get split, and refuel at the Kyle Valero station. C pace home again. Coffee and conversation afterwards at Mozart's.

Please be sure to arrive a little early for signup and rider's meeting.

BE SURE TO CHECK THIS SITE AFTER 7:00 ON RIDE DAY IN CASE OF RAIN OR DANGEROUSLY HIGH WIND.

RIDE IS ON FOR 9 AM START
Ride start 9 AM NOTE: The Govalle parking lot might be closed for swimming pool construction. If so, we can park in the baseball field parking lot that is just a hundred yards east ... more(three houses away) of park parking lot entrance on Bolm Road, and ride a short ped/bike bridge over Boggy Creek that connects to the SWCT.

A moderate C-pace ride (roughly 11 to 14 mph) on The Southern Walnut Creek Trail from the trailhead at Govalle Park to the Abrupt End and return. Round trip is about 20 miles. The trail is paved for the entire distance, with a 1/2 mile hill on the outbound. We'll regroup at the top of the hill on the outbound and at the Abrupt End. The return is mostly downhill. The trail is two-way and narrows down in spots, with a couple of blind corners. Single-file riding and moderate speed on the corners is strongly recommended!

There are two significant road intersections that require caution to cross.
A map of Govalle Park's location is at http://austinparks.org/parks/govalle-park/

Bring water, a snack, a spare bicycle tire tube, and tools to fix a flat. Riders will sign a liability waiver at the ride start and must wear a helmet. There are no restrooms on the trail itself. There are restrooms at the Austin Tennis Center, about 1/3 mile off the trail at the top of the hill.

• What to bring
helmet, water/sports drink, tools to fix a flat, spare inner tube, snack(optional)
Optional coffee afterword at Sa-Ten, 916 Springdale Rd in the Canopy arts complex.
