This evening bike ride exploring Art in Public Places TEMPO exhibits is beginner and B-Cycle friendly. Our targets are art works at the Mexican American Cultural Center, the Carver Library and the Austin Nature Center. We'll meet at Open Room Austin - one of my personal favorites in Austin's public art collection - it's the Alice in Wonderland-looking table with the glowing lights just off the Pfluger Bridge.

Join our regular group of Easy Riders in the rolling country around Elgin. Suitable for advanced beginners, who can ride the stated distance above at an average pace close to our 11 ... moremph minimum, older, social riders or experienced riders wanting a leisurely pace. Group will either meet up at turns, or have individuals mark the turns until the sweep arrives depending on the rider mix. Afterwards, we eat together nearby.

Please note During the summer the rides will be self-organizing amongst the easy riders’ members that show up for the ride. More of a meet up format. Please make sure you are familiar with Bike Austin - Waiver and Release of Liability since you are agreeing to these terms if you ride. A leader and sweep will be selected from the group and either mark turns or wait for the entire group at turns. Also make sure to introduce yourself to other riders.

Yes, that's right - a fat burner ride: long and steady, no sprints. Those 8 pounds from Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years are still there, so it's time for long miles. Not long HARD ... moremiles, just long miles, so this time we're doing 55 miles on one of our usual routes. Longer rides later. No drop; we'll regroup if necessary anywhere the group can get split, and refuel at the Kyle Valero station. C pace home again. Coffee and conversation afterwards at Mozart's.

Please be sure to arrive a little early for signup and rider's meeting.

BE SURE TO CHECK THIS SITE AFTER 7:00 ON RIDE DAY IN CASE OF RAIN OR DANGEROUSLY HIGH WIND.

START LOCATION: meet (and park) at the back of the "uphill" parking lot across Lake Austin Blvd. from the coffee shop. Look for the old boat on your left up the hill; we're near there.

Burn off yesterday's turkey and all the other bits!! No drop; regroup after stoplights or anywhere the group can get split, and after each hot spot; and refuel at the Creedmoor Valero ... morestation. C pace home again. Coffee and conversation afterwards at Mozart's.

Because of the in-town stretches, this ride agerages about 15. That's the average speed your computer will show after the ride, with stoplights, turns, hills, etc. But to average 15 you need to ride 15-18 most of the time on the flats, so please come expecting that.

Please be sure to arrive a little early for signup and rider's meeting.

BE SURE TO CHECK THIS SITE AFTER 7:00 ON RIDE DAY IN CASE OF RAIN CANCELLATION.

I'M BACK------NOTE---there are NO known low water crossings on this route!!!!! Still sore some (back, neck, backside---the hip is fine-(it is brand new!)), but riding to get better! ... more

This is a new/old mostly flat route starting from Lake Pflugerville. We can expect to split up into at least two (2) groups as I will be going at a slow pace (12-13 mph) as I ride myself back into better riding condition.

A moderate C-pace ride (roughly 11 to 14 mph) on The Southern Walnut Creek Trail from Govalle Park to the Abrupt End and return. Round trip is about 20 miles. The trail is paved for ... morethe entire distance, with a 1/2 mile hill on the outbound. We'll regroup periodically on the outbound and at the Abrupt End. The return is mostly downhill. And you might even see Lance flashing by.
The trail is two-way and narrows down in spots, with a couple of blind corners. Single-file riding and moderate speed on the turns is recommended!

There are two significant road intersections that require caution to cross.

A map of Govalle Park's location is at http://austinparks.org/parks/govalle-park/

Bring water, a snack, a spare bicycle tire tube, and tools to fix a flat. Riders will sign a liability waiver at the ride start and must wear a helmet.

There are no restrooms on the trail itself. There are restrooms at Govalle Park and at the Austin Tennis Center, about 1/3 mile off the trail.

Terrain is rolling farmland, with one or two short steep hills. The average speed will be 14-16 mph, but on flat straight-a-ways there may be some sustained stretches of 16-20 mph. This is a no drop ride and we will regroup at turns and hilltops as necessary. Distance may vary by a mile or two depending on how much we decide to use the Walnut Creek Bike Trail.

Riders should bring helmets, water, spare tube, and identification. Please leave headphones and earbuds at home.

Parking is available north of 51st on Duval and on side streets around the Peddler. Please don't park in the alley behind the Peddler and The Flight Path Coffee House.
