Novice
Rides suitable for cyclists who are new to the sport (or who have not been on a bike for some years), family-friendly rides or any riders that feel a need for some mentoring. Note: please note that minors under the age of 16 cannot participate in rides unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families with children should, in any event, confirm with the ride leader ahead of time that the ride will be suitable for their needs.

Intermediate
Targeted towards riders who have a few years in the saddle, who have developed some riding confidence and fitness and feel ready to move to the next level. Could attract more experienced riders who are looking for a relaxed or less aggressive ride.

Advanced
Limited to experienced riders with superior bike handling skills and who are comfortable with a fast pace (probably including single and/or double pace-line riding) and/or hilly terrain, and the possibility of heavily trafficked roads. Description
Start Time is 9  AM. A somewhat slow C-pace ride (roughly 11 to 14 mph) on The Southern Walnut Creek Trail from the trailhead at Govalle Park up to the Abrupt End at Lindell Lane just north of Decker Lake. Round trip is about 20 miles. The trail is paved for the entire distance, with an intereresting 1/2 mile hill on the outbound. We'll regroup periodically on the outbound and at the Abrupt End. The return is mostly downhill.

The trail is two-way and narrows down in spots. Single-file riding is recommended. There are two significant road intersections that require caution to cross.

A map of the park's location is at http://austinparks.org/parks/govalle-park/

Bring water, a snack, a spare bicycle tire tube, and tools to fix a flat. Riders will sign a liability waiver at the ride start and must wear a helmet.

There are no restrooms on the trail itself. There are restrooms at Govalle Park and at the Austin Tennis Center, about 1/3 mile off the trail at the 7-mile mark.

After ride, optional coffee or brunch at Sa-Ten cafe, 916 Springdale Road. About 1/2 mile from Govalle Park and easily rideable.
