SATURDAY October 15, 2016 - Ride leader: Bo Lora In 2012 Bicycling Magazine published "The Best Bike Ride in Every State". Now is your opportunity to do the "Best Bike Ride in Texas", ... moreThe Willow City Loop. The wildflower season is over so the traffic should be quite manageable. We will be doing the famous loop clockwise where we end up in Fredericksburg at mile 36. At mile 20 the Willow City Volunteer Fire Department has a water hose we can use to refill bottles. The route is almost 56 miles and 2700ft of elevation. This is a no-drop ride, that means we will regroup at major intersections and after hill climbs, specially at Willow City mile 20.

NOTES:

Helmets are required on all Bike Austin rides.

Q-sheets for the planned route are downloadable from the Ride with GPS

Just so you know, we will have to negotiate about over dozen cattle guards.

Be sure to check this post on ride day to confirm status.

Please arrive, and be ready to ride 55 miles, in time for a 9:20 AM riders meeting so we can roll from The Knot in The Loop Saloon promptly at 9:30 AM.

Optional lunch afterwards at The Knot in The Loop Saloon. https://www.facebook.com/Knot-In-The-Loop-Saloon-175427505824365
If you are interested in lunch, please email me (bolora@hotmail.com) or message me on the right of this page and let me know so I can get them a headcount and they can be ready for us.

We will meet at The Knot in The Loop Saloon, 236 Farm Rd 1323, Willow City, TX 78675.
https://goo.gl/maps/ZQz57234DNR2 The place has a gate and the owner told me that they will open the gate for us to be able to park in their property.

The PHENOM Saturday Morning ride meets at 8AM at Cycleast on E Cesar Chavez, every Saturday, rain or shine. Coffee, tacos, and snacks are available from Flat Track Coffee inside of ... moreCycleast before and after the ride. The ride rolls at 830 for 50 miles of rolling hills at a 16-18 MPH average pace.

We typically head southeast at a solid tempo pace, rolling out together and depending on ride size and the leader's discretion, a smaller faster group may split off for a higher-paced intensity workout once the ride leaves the city limits. There is typically one regroup/water stop at a midpoint, followed by a paceline back to Cycleast.

It is a drop ride, and comfortably handling a bike in a paceline is expected and recommended for safety. Come out and start your weekend out right, rolling with the PHENOM Saturday Morning Ride!

HERE WE GO AGAIN------ Lets enjoy the forecasted warmer & sunny weather by riding along with Mark Perkins as he completes a century ride for the 85th consecutive month!! We'll ... morejoin Mark, to give him support (we would like to think he needs!), as he does another month's century ride!! This is a slight variation of the Blue Goose Century ride Jeff developed; the one ridden in November, 2015. We'll be riding in northeast Travis County & southeast Williamson County---north & south (back & forth--kind of), from Coupland to just south of Manor, on various different quiet country roads. We'll have some "vintage" chip-seal roads---so air up your tires accordingly. There are 4 possible STORE STOPS at 29, 51, 68, & 81 miles. We'll have only 2850 ft. of climbing (per RIDEwithGPS).

Going to try a new starting location (just 2 miles north, of the old starting point, on Harris Branch Pkwy.) for this century ride--see the new route map attached below.

Note I: Please make a purchase IF you use the Valero's rest room facilities before/after the ride.

Note II: Helmets are required on all Bike Austin rides.

Note III: I don't have maps, but Q-sheets will be provided. The RIDEwithGPS version is attached below for electronic downloading.

NEW Starting Point: The Valero Gas Station/Convenience Store at the corner of Parmer Lane and Harris Branch Pkwy. See the starting point location map below. PLEASE park at the ends of the Valero building (north & south)---PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK the gas pumps or the front doors of the store. And note; there is no parking in the REAR of the store.

Please arrive, with you and your equipment ready to ride 105 miles, in time to sign-in prior to the starters meeting at 7:50 AM; for a prompt roll-out at 8:00 AM.

This is a hosted "B" pace ride. If you are not familiar with our ride categories, please check these two sites to ensure you can match yourself to the ride:
