The moment you reach the 243 ft peak of the Harbor Bridge and begin your descend towards the shoreline you realize this isn’t just a ride–from this point on, it will forever become ... morean annual tradition.

Conquer the Coast packs so much into one ride that no other cycling event quite compares. The ride begins at 7:30 a.m. in the heart of Corpus Christi’s Sports, Entertainment and Arts District (Bayfront Park, Corpus Christi, TX 78401). See some of the regions most iconic views, an award-winning art museum and the awe-inspiring watergardens. Your trek up the Harbor Bridge gives you a bird’s eye view of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and the nation’s 5th largest port to your left. On your right you’ll see a National Landmark, the USS LEXINGTON and the Texas State Aquariums. All with the expansive Corpus Christi Bay as the backdrop where you survey the very coast you set out to conquer.

Here, your adventure has only begun as you continue to make your way through all the picturesque towns that line the shores of Corpus Christi Bay. Portland, Aransas Pass, Ingleside and Port Aransas all offer their own unique flair to the Coastal Bend and promise spectacular views along the way. The Port Aransas Ferry connects you to Mustang & Padre Island where the true test begins. Some call it the “Toughest 18 Miles in Texas” as this stretch of Mustang Island is what it’s all about. It’s what separates the joy riders from the cyclists. A unique opportunity to ride through the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. A quick jump across the Intercoastal Waterway and you hit Ocean Drive: easily one of the most scenic drives in all of Texas.

YOU’RE INVITED September 22-24, 2016 The Texas Time Trials would like to extend a warm, Texas-sized invitation to all of y’all. Whether you are an Ultra Racer, Randonneur or a rider ... morewanting to test your abilities against the clock, we have an event for you. The Texas Time Trials is actually five events in one. The Tejas 500, our longest event, will have (3) different start times, the 48-Hour start, Thursday 6:00 pm, then a 42-hour start (6 hours later) at Midnight and also a 36-hour start at 6:00 am Friday. The object is to have all the riders and teams finish about the same time for dinner and the Awards Bash Saturday evening.

The “Iron Butt” 24-Hour Time Trial will start Friday evening at 5:00 pm. The “Tin Butt” 12-Hour Challenge will start on Saturday morning at 6:00 am. The 6-Hour Shoot-Out will begin Saturday at 11:00 am, followed by The 26.5 mile Sprint at 3:00 pm. The staggered start times make for an exciting event injecting new riders onto the course. This introduction of new riders to the course adds to the excitement of each event and will work to keep riders already out on the course fired-up. All events will end in time for the Awards Ceremony. The Awards Ceremony is a fun place to meet other riders, eat and pick up trophies. With riders from most of the states in the USA and from other countries, the Awards Bash was also an unbelievable reunion (see past rider list on website) of old and new friends.

The course is a scenic and challenging 26.5 mile loop. Crews can “hand off” to their riders from the start-finish area, each lap. This venue also allows riders to “crew themselves” from the trunk of their own car, negating the need for an expensive “follow entourage”. The start-finish is a fun place for your crew and/or resting team riders to congregate and allows for a pleasant social atmosphere. Bring the family for a fun-filled day at the races! Riders, crews and teams are encouraged to pitch tents in the park under the large trees creating a tent city with a personality all its own.

Awards will be abundant and worthy of your accomplishment. All riders and team members completing The Tejas 500 within the selected time limit will receive an awesome TTTT trophy. In the 24-Hour “Iron Butt” race, all riders completing 132.5 miles in 24 hours will receive a trophy. In the 12-Hour “Tin Butt” race, all riders completing 79.5 miles in 12 hours will receive a trophy. In the 6-hour Shoot-Out race, racers completing 53 miles in 6 hours receive a trophy and all racers finishing The 26.5 mile Sprint receive a trophy. All team members will receive the same TTTT Trophy. Last year we awarded 300 trophies. Please take the time to check out the photos of these TTTT Trophies on The Awards Page of TTTT Website.

If 500 miles sounds too challenging, try a four-person team. Team riders seem to make a party out of this event every year! The Texas Time Trials has become more than just a great internationally-known event; it’s a fun-filled ride, a reunion that brings RAAM legends, newbies, randonneurs and world-class Ultra racers together in a social setting to celebrate our ability to ride. This is a great event for the seasoned racer or someone wanting to try their first race. For photos, a complete list of past riders, their splits, sponsors, volunteers, rider comments and ride reports, please see our website.

The TTTT website will be updated mid-Summer with new sponsors and details, but as well as things went last year, we don’t plan to change much at all.

If you can’t be talked into racing, please consider coming out to enjoy the free food and volunteer!

Happy Trails! Dan D

Wheels & Heels for Meals is one of the Food Pantry’s largest fundraising events. It began in 2009 and grows every year. Our 88-mile ride begins at the Food Pantry, in the town ... moreof Fort Davis, TX, and meanders along beautiful, scenic roads to the town of Valentine and then back. It is designed for everyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist. No one is required to ride the entire 88 miles and it is not a race. Along the way, there are two pit stops with food, shade, portable toilets and wet towels. Then in Valentine, lunch is served with music and surprises. One year we even had an apple bobbing contest!

In 2013, we introduced a new, shorter, fun route called the Princess Tour. And at only 17 miles of mostly downhill, scenic roadways and chock full of pampering extras, you will know why it was named as such. On the Princess Tour, you are treated like royalty. First, you are whisked to the top of the mountain starting point (Bloys Camp) while enjoying scrumptious pastries, orange juice and espresso. At the finish your paparazzi awaits to rejoice with you in your success!

And also, beginning in 2014, the Wheels For Meals event became the Wheels & Heels For Meals. We added a new walking route for those that would like to participate in the fundraising and sights but aren’t comfortable biking the longer distances. The walk portion entails a 1, 2, 4 or 8 mile course.
