IT'S THAT TIME OF THE MONTH-----This looks like one of the better weather days left in August---SOOOOOO!! Come out and ride to test your stamina/endurance as you help (we'd like to ... morethink he needs our help!) Mark Perkins complete his 80th consecutive month of doing a century ride!! Starting this ride VERY early to try and "beat-the-heat"---You'll need front & rear LIGHTS on your bike for this early start!!!!

Come get a good workout and get out in the fresh air---as you ride a Century (100 miles) from Lake Pflugerville. You'll head out east to Elgin; then go north and further east, riding by the Lawrence Chapel, to Thrall (lunch?). Continuing north you'll cross the scenic Granger Dam. Then you'll go west into Granger. Riding south and west from Granger you'll cross Texas 95 at Circleville (north of Taylor), before turning south, going back to Lake Pflugerville, to get the century distance. The total climbing: under 2700 ft. We'll do a nice "B" (15-17) pace to work up our mileage base.

We'll have a minimum of 3 store stops (more if needed): at 22, 51, & 78 miles.

Please come with you (bring plenty to eat/drink) and your bike ready (with lights) to ride 101 miles, in time for sign-in and to participate in a 6:50 AM riders' meeting so we can roll promptly at 7:00 AM. OUTspokin’s bike riding program, is organized and led by volunteers. We hope you have an enjoyable and safe cycling experience, and find rides that suit your riding style and fitness level.
If you have questions about a ride, contact us at outspokindenver@gmail.com. You are responsible for your own decisions on the ride. To ensure your safety and that of others, we do have the following expectations of ride participants:

Cyclists are required to wear a correctly adjusted helmet.
Participants must sign a waiver including an emergency and/or home phone number.
Riders must cycle in a legal, safe, and courteous manner. Never ride with earphones or ear bud(s).
Pull off and stop when using a cell phone.
Participants should carry a pump, spare tube, patch kit, and money and know how to fix their own flats.
Plan to arrive at least fifteen minutes before the start time with your bicycle ready to ride. This allows time to sign the waiver, listen to route instructions, meet the leader, and look at the map if available.
We also recommend that you print out the map for the ride you choose to do, if available from our website.
For the group's enjoyment as well as your own, choose a ride at the pace and distance that matches your current ability.
All participants are expected to be personally responsible for their own conduct and decisions while on an OUTspokin’ ride.
And above all else, HAVE FUN!

Join us for a self-contained biking / camping trip from Liberty Hill along quiet country roads to Inks Lake State Park. Self-contained bike touring uses a rack and panniers (or trailer) ... moreto haul everything you need for the journey on your bike. On this trip we'll relax the rules a bit, having a volunteer SAG driver (not organized by Bike Austin), so that carrying your own luggage is not required.

Expect to ride about 50 miles each day on some hilly terrain, with a group pace averaging 12 mph. Route sheets will be provided for those who wish to ride faster or slower. We'll stop for Saturday lunch in a cafe along the way, and set up camp in the afternoon, taking a stroll along the lake before fixing dinner. After a hearty breakfast we'll head back on Sunday, stopping along the way for lunch.

Chip in $20 per person to cover camping, Sat dinner and Sun breakfast. Additional funds are needed to buy your own lunches and snacks along the route, and contribute to the SAG driver's expenses. Please email leader ( nseldon@ix.netcom.com ) to get more info and reserve your spot.

Riders must wear a helmet, obey all traffic laws, and carry equipment to change a flat tire. Recommended to wear bright color clothing and carry cell phone. For camping, bring tent, sleeping bag & pad, raingear, flashlight, change of clothes, towel, toothbrush etc, and eating utensils.

Exact start location in Liberty Hill will be provided. If high chance of bad weather is predicted, the trip will be cancelled. Event is co-sponsored with Austin Sierra Club. Leaders: Niles Seldon, Diane and Mike Nunez.

The PHENOM Saturday Morning ride meets at 8AM at Cycleast on E Cesar Chavez, every Saturday, rain or shine. Coffee, tacos, and snacks are available from Flat Track Coffee inside of ... moreCycleast before and after the ride. The ride rolls at 830 for 50 miles of rolling hills at a 16-18 MPH average pace.

We typically head southeast at a solid tempo pace, rolling out together and depending on ride size and the leader's discretion, a smaller faster group may split off for a higher-paced intensity workout once the ride leaves the city limits. There is typically one regroup/water stop at a midpoint, followed by a paceline back to Cycleast.

It is a drop ride, and comfortably handling a bike in a paceline is expected and recommended for safety. Come out and start your weekend out right, rolling with the PHENOM Saturday Morning Ride!
