Novice
Rides suitable for cyclists who are new to the sport (or who have not been on a bike for some years), family-friendly rides or any riders that feel a need for some mentoring. Families with children should, in any event, confirm with the ride leader ahead of time that the ride will be suitable for their needs.

Advanced
Limited to experienced riders with superior bike handling skills and who are comfortable with a fast pace (probably including single and/or double pace-line riding) and/or hilly terrain, and the possibility of heavily trafficked roads. Cross the Continental Divide (Blanco River valley to the Guadeloupe valley)
Description
RIDE NAME AND DISTANCE:   Ghost of Hillaceous.  50 miles.

DATE/TIME:   Saturday 18th November; 8:30 am.

RIDE LEADER/CONTACT:  William Hudson;  210-387-7340;  WilliamPedalsOn@gmail.com

DESCRIPTION:  A truly fine ride from Wimberley that takes us through Fischer (with its 1890s dance hall) towards Canyon Lake. The route crosses the continental divide ... well, sort of .... we do cross from the Blanco River valley to the Guadaloupe valley.  The ride is named after the old Wimberley Hillaceous that used to go to Luckenbach.  There is a new store stop on FM-306 which does require single file. Be very cautious of any low water crossings given any recent rainfall.

AVERAGE SPEED:   15 - 17 mph.   A guide only; actual pace depends on the group and to maintain this average, there will be some significantly faster stretches.

TERRAIN: Moderately hilly

RIDER LEVEL:  Experienced, self-confident riders who are comfortable and very safe in a group riding situation which could include pace-line riding, hilly terrain and exposure to significant urban traffic.

RIDE START ADDRESS & url:  Meet at the Scudder Primary School in Wimberley, about 0.25 mile south of FM 2325 on Green Acres Road. (Green Acres road is at the first, and only stop-light west of RR 12 on FM 2325).  https://goo.gl/maps/bQyqS1zKaSG2

·       In case of inclement weather, check this web site and/or my emails early on the morning of the ride.

·       I also have a Google Group (Austin and Central Texas Cycling) in which we discuss upcoming rides and miscellaneous cycling stuff.  Email me (address above) if interested in joining – you can always unsubscribe yourself if you later decide you have no interest.
