Note the EARLY start time to "BEAT-the-HEAT" . It's that time of the month!!! Come ride with Mark Perkins as he completes a century ride for the 102nd consecutive month!!! Picking ... morethis Saturday, 6-2-2018, because it looks like one of our better "good" weather days, early in June, to do this longer ride---sunny, good temps., & moderate winds!

A scenic ride starting at Lake Pflugerville, heading east and north into Granger before continuing east and crossing the scenic Granger Dam. We then ride south into Trall, continuing south we'll ride by the Lawrence Chapel & Cemetery heading into Elgin, before going west (staying north of Manor) back to our starting location. We'll have only 2590 ft. of climbing (per RIDEwithGPS). We have choices of 5 store stops---@ 22, 30, 48, 78, & 86 miles.

NOTE I: With this posting: I'm also included a "sister" half-century (50.2 miles) ride--The Lake Pflugerville Half Century I--(CW)---to start out and ride the first 22 miles with those riding this century distance. Please know this Half Century ride will NOT be hosted---you'll be doing a "self paced" ride with the Q-sheets and the RIDEwitGPS electronic download, after the 24 mile mark!

NOTE II: I don't have maps of these courses, but Q-sheets (for the Century & Half Century routes) will be available and the RideWithGPS version of both routes are attached for electronic downloading.

NOTE III: Helmets are required on all Bike Austin rides.

NOTE IV: We'll be riding on some "vintage" Travis, Williamson, & Bastrop County "chip-seal" roads----inflate your tires accordingly!!

NOTE V: It is imperative that you arrive with you and your bike ready to ride 101 miles in time for a 6:20 AM ride start briefing and a PROMPT roll-out at 6:30 AM. It will be a long hot day in the saddle!

If you are not familiar with our ride catagories; please see the following 2 sights to insure you are matched for this ride:

Join us for a MEMORIAL DAY ride that goes west and northwest from the Peddler to Anderson Mill and back (unless you are going on to Alaska). There will be an optional extension for ... morefolks who want to ride 40 miles. This route includes some urban riding, but most of the ride is in bike lanes or on quiet shady neighborhood streets. The ride has several short steep hills that may challenge riders unused to hills. This is a no drop ride and we will regroup at corners and hilltops as necessary.

Average speed will be 13-15 mph, but the group may go faster on flat straightaways. This is a no-drop ride and we will regroup on hills and turns as necessary.

Parking is available north of 51st on Duval and on the side streets around Duval. Please don't park in the alley behind the Peddler and Flight Path Coffeehouse.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for sign-in and route briefing. We will leave promptly at 8:00. Ride leader: Fran Gale, cell, 512 431-2631 and email frangale226@gmail.com

Coffee and conversation afterwards at the Flight Path.

Helmets are required on Peddler Bike Austin rides and riders should bring water, emergency identification, and a spare tube. Please leave headphones and earbuds at home.

For the Tuesday "Walnuts" ride---I believe William is "under the weather". Not an Arboretum start, but a "little" closer to an in-town ride start? We haven't done this ride in a while!... more

Going to try a new starting location (just 2 miles north, of the old starting point, on Harris Branch Pkwy.) for an "established" Walnuts ride for Bike Austin. (See the new route map attached below.) We'll be riding in northeast Travis County & southeast Williamson County. We'll have some "vintage" chip-seal roads---so air up your tires accordingly. The store stop is the Doc's Country Store at County Line Road & US 290---29 miles. We'll have only 1289 ft. of climbing (per RIDEwithGPS).

Note I: Please make a purchase IF you use the Valero's rest room facilities before/after the ride.

Note II: Helmets are required on all Bike Austin rides.

Note III: I don't have maps, but Q-sheets will be provided. The RIDEwithGPS version is attached below for electronic downloading.

NEW Starting Point: The Valero Gas Station/Convenience Store at the corner of Parmer Lane and Harris Branch Pkwy. See the starting point location map below. PLEASE park at the ends of the Valero building (north & south)---PLEASE DO NOT block the gas pumps or the front doors of the store. And NOTE: We now have permission to park in the store REAR----in the marked unloading zone!!!

Please arrive, with you and your equipment ready to ride 52 miles, in time to sign-in prior to the starters meeting at 8:50 AM; for a prompt roll-out at 9:00 AM.

This is a hosted "B" pace ride. If you are not familiar with our ride categories, please check these two sites to ensure you can match yourself to the ride:
