Description

SATURDAY October 15, 2016 - Ride leader: Bo Lora

In 2012 Bicycling Magazine published "The Best Bike Ride in Every State". Now is your opportunity to do the "Best Bike Ride in Texas", The Willow City Loop. The wildflower season is over so the traffic should be quite manageable.  We will be doing the famous loop clockwise where we end up in Fredericksburg at mile 36. At mile 20 the Willow City Volunteer Fire Department has a water hose we can use to refill bottles. The route is almost 56 miles and 2700ft of elevation.  This is a no-drop ride, that means we will regroup at major intersections and after hill climbs, specially at Willow City mile 20.

NOTES:

  1. Helmets are required on all Bike Austin rides.
  2. Q-sheets for the planned route are downloadable from the Ride with GPS
  3.  Just so you know, we will have to negotiate about over dozen cattle guards.
  4. Be sure to check this post on ride day to confirm status.
  5. Please arrive, and be ready to ride 55 miles, in time for a 9:20 AM riders meeting so we can roll from The Knot in The Loop Saloon promptly at 9:30 AM.
  6. Optional lunch afterwards at The Knot in The Loop Saloon. https://www.facebook.com/Knot-In-The-Loop-Saloon-175427505824365
If you are interested in lunch, please email me (bolora@hotmail.com) or message me on the right of this page and let me know so I can get them a headcount and they can be ready for us.

We will meet at The Knot in The Loop Saloon, 236 Farm Rd 1323, Willow City, TX 78675.
https://goo.gl/maps/ZQz57234DNR2 The place has a gate and the owner told me that they will open the gate for us to be able to park in their property.
