A relatively new 57 mile Liberty Hill ride!! We start/end from Tejas Park/Camp, on the North Fork San Gabriel River---north & east of the Ronald Reagan-TX 29 intersection on CR ... more258 (see start location map attached), and ride southwest thru Liberty Hill, before turning north to Bertram. We'll then head northeast going thru Mahomet before turning southeast to ride thru Andice on our way back to the Tejas Park/Camp. We'll be pedaling on some familiar roads, but also on some new roads for many of us---we will have mostly quiet, good surface, Central Texas roads. We climb just under 2200 ft. on this route--per RIDEwithGPS--most of the climbing in the first 30 miles of the ride. We'll have store stops at 24 (Bertam) and 47 (Andice) miles. For summer rides --- on the HOT days (Maybe in June or LATE April??)---plan to cool-off by sitting in the San Gabriel River at rides end!

Well, my birthday is actually on Saturday this year, so I'll celebrate (again) by riding a mile for every year. Usual course to San Marcos with a revised return route on Bradshaw Road ... moreto avoid a bad intersection and add the right number of miles. Mellow pace, and get-together afterwards at Mozart's Coffee. Rest/fuel stops at Buda, at the San Marcos turnaround, and Buda again on the return.

Note that we actually meet at the uphill parking lot across from Mozart's Coffee. Look for our landmark, the old white boat.

We'll ride through the quiet farm/ranch lands of southeast Williamson County and northeast Travis county.. We'll go east out of Hutto, then south by the donkey farm before wandering into Elgin, then turning west & north on our way back into Hutto. This ride goes west and northwest from the Peddler through neighborhoods to Anderson Mill Road , up to Lime Creek Road and back (unless you are going on to Alaska). There are several ... moreshort steep hills and a couple of busy road crossings. Jollyville Road and Anderson Mill Road Road have bike lanes and are popular with bikers, but they can be busy. Join us for a ride from the Peddler to the Barton Creek Bridge on Loop 360. This is a short urban ride with lots of hills, leading to the spectacular view from the the bridge. This ... moreis the first time for this ride, so riders should be prepared to be flexible. Approximately two miles of the ride will be on the Loop 360 shoulder. Average speeds will be slower than normal because the ride is in town and because of the hills, but there may still be some stretches of 17-20 mph.

This is a no drop ride and we will regroup at hilltops and turns as necessary.

Riders should bring spare tubes, water, and emergency identification. Helmets are required. Please leave headphones, ear buds, and boom boxes at home.

The American Legion Post 0671 is having a charity ride and run on 4th August 2018 in Hutchinson County, Texas. Since this our first time doing an even like this we would appreciate ... moreany help or advice you might want to provide. The Attachments contains our Registration Form. We are having 4 Bicycle Routes of which the 13 mile would be easy, 10 miles of that is kind of a warm up for the other three which should be consider moderate because of climbing up out of creek and river bottoms. We are also going to have a competition of the 52 mile and 92 miles rides if we get enough interest. We would need 10 rides minimum in each race and this just a fun race with some prize money. There is also the fact that this area is well known for its wind and heat factor. Should be good training for Burning Vernon and Hotter N Hell Rides. I am Going to provide the routes and directions to for your information. If you have any questions please contact Robert S. Pinkerton Committee Chairman, Cell 806-395-6688. NOTE the early starting time----we have entered the "beat-the-heat" mode now!!! This also gets us off of FM 1869 as early as possible---hopefully before most of the heavy traffic!! ... moreA new/old country ride from Liberty Hill.

The 65 mile route will be be at a "Social B" paced group, but may also have a faster " A or A-" group going (hammering?) off the front. This is a variation of the popular Milmor's Man ride from Liberty Hill. These routes are modified from an earlier riding route, while maintaining a very scenic ride, to: a) minimize the riding time on FM 1869 & b) do the CR 284 "rollers" early in the ride instead of at the end of the ride.

After riding west on FM 1869 for 1.5 miles, we'll be on some scenic quiet country roads going west through Oatmeal on our way to Burnet or Bertram.
We return east back through Oatmeal making an elongated figure 8. We'll stay north of FM 1869 on the way home doing a slightly flatter ride than the numerous "rollers" south on CR 284 (we ride those rollers on the way out to Oatmeal). The store stop is in Burnet at 37 miles. Total climbing is 2550 ft. according to RIDEwithGPS.

NOTE I: Helmets are required on ALL bike Austin rides.

NOTE II: I don't have maps, but Q-Sheets (for both rides) will be provided and the RIDEwithGPS versions are attached for electronic downloading.

NOTE III: Please arrive with you & your bike ready to ride 65 miles (we only have one (1) store stop at 37 miles) in time for a 6:55 AM ride start meeting so we can be rolling PROMPTLY at 7:00 AM. Bring plenty of drink & food for the ride distance.

NOTE IV: Start Location is the Liberty Hill Elemenmtary School on Loop 332. (No restroom facilities at ride start).

Lunch after the ride, for those interested (all are invited), at the Liberty Hill Corner Market/Deli.

I am leaving Austin and moving to Reno, Nevada for a great job opportunity, so I will be leading this ride for my last time. I have been injured for the last couple of weeks, but now ... moreI am all healed and ready to lead one last Bike Austin ride. If you know me, I hope you can join me.

This is the standard South Austin route to Buda and then returning. This ride is no-drop and the pace will average 14ish mph so be sure you can maintain that ride pace. No drop means that we regroup periodically and will stop as a group for minor mechanical problems such as flats or thrown chains; major problems will require AAA or the equivalent. There is a virtual route map at www.mapmyride.com

Regular bikes welcome, recumbents worshipped. The usual post ride fare and smack talk at Maria's Taco Xpress, an Austin institution.

Note earlier start time of 7:30 AM! Moderate paced ride with a couple of fast parts. No drop with regular regroup points. In recognition of our friend, Louis Mestier, and to wish ... morehim well as he begins his journey off to the wild, wild west, we will start this ride at 7:30 and then ride the 20 minutes over to Bicycle Sport Shop on South Lamar to connect with Louis and his group, then we'll ride with them out through South Austin to the Buda turnaround. Then off to Creedmoor to complete the usual course - this should add about 4 miles to the regular course. (Or, if you wish, back to Austin with Louis' group for one final fling at Maria's but then you'll have to make your way back to Mozart's with a tummy full of tacos).

Traditional course from Lake Austin through South Austin, Old San Antonio Road and eventually over to FM 1327 (or other back roads) to Creedmoor, then back to the city via Old Lockhart Road. 45 miles.

Start Location: Parking lot across Lake Austin Boulvard from Mozart's Coffee Roasters, 3825 Lake Austin Blvd, Austin, TX 78703. Up the hill, near the old boat. Please arrive 10 minutes early. Coffee and conversation after the ride at Mozart's.

Brisk pace ride, with regular regroup points, and a few hot spot" sprint points: Akins High school hilltop, Creedmoor run-in on SR1327, and the return on Old Lockhart Rd to Slaughter ... moreLane intersection. No drop; we'll regroup after stoplights or anywhere the group can get split, and after each hot spot; and refuel at the Creedmoor Valero station.

Because of the in-town stretches, this ride averages about 15 mph. That's the average speed your computer will show after the ride, with stoplights, turns, hills, etc. But to average 15 you need to ride 16-18 most of the time on the flats, so please come expecting that.

Join us for a ride down the east side of town to McKinney Falls and a return on the west side. This variation uses the Montopolis Bridge and Dove Springs Road. It is slightly less ... morehilly. Otherwise it is much like the usual version of our McKinney Falls ride. Most of the route is on bike lanes and/or quiet streets, but there is some urban riding. There are several stretches of rolling hills and/or short moderately steep hills. There are no hills very hard in themselves, but the cumulative effect can be grueling for inexperienced riders or riders who haven't ridden for a while. The average speed will be 13-14 mph, but we will ride faster on straightaways and some riders may break away on the front. This is a no drop ride and we will regroup at turns and hilltops as necessary.

Riders should bring helmets, spare tube, water, and emergency identification. Please leave headphones, loudspeakers, and earbuds at home.

Parking is available on Duval Street north of 51st and on the side streets off Duval. Please don't park in the alley behind the Peddler and Flight Path.
