NEW START TIME!
NOTE NEW RIDE START TIME! This is the standard South Austin route to Buda and then continuing to Mountain City. This ride is no-drop and the pace will average 15ish mph so be sure ... moreyou can maintain that ride pace. No drop means that we regroup periodically and will stop as a group for minor mechanical problems such as flats or thrown chains; major problems will require AAA or the equivalent. Queue sheets are available at the start of the ride for those that need them. There is also a virtual route map at www.mapmyride.com

Regular bikes welcome, recumbents worshipped. The usual post ride fare and smack talk at Maria's Taco Xpress, an Austin institution.

Ride started from Bicycle Sport Shop at 517 South Lamar Blvd. You can email me at mistertax@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

This ride is designed for strong recreational riders with a few years in the saddle.

Ride starts at 9 AM at Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop @ 400 Nueces St. Austin, TX. These rides are co-hosted by Mellow Johnny’s and Bike Austin. This no-drop group ride is perfect ... morefor the cyclist new to riding or bike commuting, returning to the bike, or just looking for a more casual ride. The routes are designed to help riders navigate the city bike routes and other safe bike commuting options.

To accommodate the number of riders and varying fitness, there are two groups. The first group is designed for those who can average 14-16mph for 20-30 miles with one or two regrouping points. This group follows the same route but is provided with an extended mileage option.

The second group is our traditional Scout-a-route. We average 12mph for distances between 15-25 miles with regrouping points.

Both rides are intended to explore, so leave your heart rate monitor at home, bring some spare dollars for the occasional refreshment stop and enjoy the view.

General ride expectations: helmet, bike in good working condition, spare tire tube, water and nutrition, and no headphone/radios. We encourage you to ride to the shop. If driving, please park in the street.

For pre-ride refreshment, meet at Juan Pelota Café (located inside Mellow Johnny's) 30 minutes before start time.
