Work off some of that Turkey we stuffed ouselves with!!! A good south wind country ride for those who may like this option. The course is over some familiar roads through rural northeast ... moreTravis county. Come and join us for this early morning ride. We'll start from the Lake Pflugerville north parking lot and head east, then south, climbing Bitting School Rd.& Parsons Rd. hills, then back west, travelling on Nez Perce Trace., Bloor Rd., and Blue Bluff Rd.; coming home thru Manor with the (hopefully) prevailing tail wind.
We'll have a store stop on FM 969 at 32 miles.

NOTE the early starting time--- This also gets us off of FM 1869 as early as possible---hopefully before most of the heavy traffic!! A new/old country ride from Liberty Hill. ... more

This is a 65 mile route at a "Social B" pace, but may also have a faster " A or A-" group going (hammering?) off the front. This is a variation of the popular Milmor's Man ride from Liberty Hill. This route is modified from an earlier riding route, while maintaining a very scenic ride, to: a) minimize the riding time on FM 1869 & b) do the CR 284 "rollers" early in the ride instead of at the end of the ride.

After riding west on FM 1869 for 1.5 miles, we'll be on some scenic quiet country roads going west through Oatmeal on our way to Burnet.
We return east back through Oatmeal making an elongated figure 8. We'll stay north of FM 1869 on the way home doing a slightly flatter ride than the numerous "rollers" south on CR 284 (we ride those rollers on the way out to Oatmeal). The store stop is in Burnet at 37 miles. Total climbing is just under 2340 ft. according to RIDEwithGPS.

NOTE I: Helmets are required on ALL bike Austin rides.

NOTE II: I don't have maps, but Q-Sheets will be provided and the RIDEwithGPS versions are attached for electronic downloading.

NOTE III: Please arrive with you & your bike ready to ride 65 miles in time for a 7:45 AM ride start meeting so we can be rolling PROMPTLY at 8:00 AM. Bring plenty of drink & food for the ride distance.

NOTE IV: Start Location is the Liberty Hill Elemenmtary School on Loop 332. (No restroom facilities at ride start).

Lunch after the ride, for those interested (all are invited), at the Liberty Hill Corner Market/Deli.

We haven't done this route for a while; so I've put together this slightly modified newer version of an "old staple" ride for us to try-----this is a good Saturday/Sunday route-----to ... moremiss the heavy urban weekday traffic!! We'll be on some familiar quiet country roads as we travel north through Cele and then west and south into Manor on our way back to our start location. We will ride down the east side of town to McKinney Falls, then come back on the west side. Most of the route is on bike lanes and/or quiet streets, but there is some urban riding. ... moreThere are several stretches of rolling hills and/or short moderately steep hills. There are no hills very hard in themselves, but the cumulative effect can be grueling for some riders. The average speed will be 13-15 mph, with perhaps a couple of intervals of sustained 18-20mph.

This ride starts at the Peddler Bike Shop, 5015 Duval St Austin, Tx 78751. Please arrive 10 minutes before ride start for sign-in and safety briefing. This is a no drop ride and we will regroup at turns and hilltops as necessary. Contact Fran Gale, frangale226@gmail.com or 512 431-2631
