Let's get out in the fresh air, with some nice scenery, and get a good work-out. This is another new/old route as we'll be riding a new combination of some previously travelled roads! ... moreWe are officially in "Beat-the-Heat " mode.
.
This is the very nice scenic rural ride from northeast Travis County into southwest Williamson County and then through northwest Bastrop County. We'll do a steady "B" pace (14-17 MPH) and re-group at all major turns. We'll travel on some quiet country roads passing a working Donkey Farm ( we'll stop and visit "Dudley" and his friends) and ride by the 8 Point Ranch, home to many exotic animals (Zebra, Antelope, Deer, Buffalo, Elk, etc.). We'll only be doing 1530 ft. of climbing per RIDEwithGPS, but we'll be riding on some "vintage" Williamson & Bastrop county "chip-seal" roads---so air-up your tires accordingly!!
There are 2 possible store stops: 1) at 26 miles in Coupland and, 2) at 45 miles at Doc's Country Store corner of County Line Rd. & US 290.

Note I: I do not have maps, but Q-sheets will be provided and the RidewithGPS route map is attached for electronic downloading.

Note II: Helmets are required on all Bike Austin rides.

Note III: Please come, with you and your equipment ready to do 61 miles, in time for a 7:20 AM riders meeting so we can roll promptly at 7:30 AM.

If you are not familiar with our ride catagories; please see the following 2 sights to insure you are matched for this ride:

http://www.austincycling.org/self_paced_and_hosted

We'll start and end at the "Good Luck Grill". (There ar NO restroom facilities at the ride start--closest are at the new Chevron Store, 3/4 mile south on FM 973) It is located at 14605 North FM 973; that is 1.8 miles north of US 290. Go east out of Manor on US 290. Turn left (north) on FM 973 for approx. 1.8 miles, the Good Luck Grill is on the right (east). Please use the parking lot area closest to the road---away from the restaurant.

All are invited for conversation and lunch afterwards at the "Grill"---they have a very nice veranda (that's "back porch" in plain talk).

Please check this posting ride day morning for any possible weather cancellation.

Austin, Texas
Well, my birthday is actually on Saturday this year, so I'll celebrate (again) by riding a mile for every year. Usual course to San Marcos with a revised return route on Bradshaw Road ... moreto avoid a bad intersection and add the right number of miles. Mellow pace, and get-together afterwards at Mozart's Coffee. Rest/fuel stops at Buda, at the San Marcos turnaround, and Buda again on the return.

Note that we actually meet at the uphill parking lot across from Mozart's Coffee. Look for our landmark, the old white boat.

Ride rollout at 7 AM, please arrive by 6:45 for safety announcement and introductions.
