We haven't done this route for a while; so I've put together this slightly modified newer version of an "old staple" ride for us to try-----this is a good Saturday/Sunday route-----to ... moremiss the heavy urban weekday traffic!! I plan for this to be a nice social ride (by our old description; a moderate "B" paced ride, we will regroup at turns as needed).

An urban starting location that will quickly get us into the quiet countryside of northeast Travis Ciounty. We'll actually get to ride on Wall Street!!! We'll be on some familiar quiet country roads as we travel north through Cele and then west and south into Manor on our way back to our start location. We have two (2) possible store stops: at 22 and 38 miles. Only 1620 ft. of climbing (per RIDEwithGPS).

NOTE I: Helmets are required on ALL Bike Austin Rides.

NOTE II: I don't have maps of this veriation, but Q-sheets will be provided and the RIDEwithGPS version is attached for electrionic downloading.

NOTE III: Starting from the corner of Centre Creek Dr. & Centre Park Dr. (See detail start location map attached.----parking on the street & NO restroom facilities are at this start location)

Please arrive, with you and your bike ready to ride 51 miles, in time for a 8:50 AM ride start meeting so we can roll promptly at 9:00 AM.

Please check this site, early ride day morning, for any possible weather cancellation.

DESCRIPTION: One of our very best urban rides. The views over the Hill Country and the Downtown from City Park Road make the climbs worthwhile. Some roads with moderate traffic.

AVERAGE SPEED: 14 - 16 mph. A guide only; actual pace depends on the group and to maintain this average, there will be some significantly faster stretches. This is especially true on this ride due to the terrain.

TERRAIN: Very hilly. Two challenging climbs & a few “walnuts”.

RIDER LEVEL: Experienced, self-confident riders who are comfortable and very safe in a group riding situation which could include pace-line riding, hilly terrain and exposure to significant urban traffic.

NOTE the early starting time--- This also gets us off of FM 1869 as early as possible---hopefully before most of the heavy traffic!! A new/old country ride from Liberty Hill. ... more

This is a 65 mile route at a "Social B" pace, but may also have a faster " A or A-" group going (hammering?) off the front. This is a variation of the popular Milmor's Man ride from Liberty Hill. This route is modified from an earlier riding route, while maintaining a very scenic ride, to: a) minimize the riding time on FM 1869 & b) do the CR 284 "rollers" early in the ride instead of at the end of the ride.

After riding west on FM 1869 for 1.5 miles, we'll be on some scenic quiet country roads going west through Oatmeal on our way to Burnet.
We return east back through Oatmeal making an elongated figure 8. We'll stay north of FM 1869 on the way home doing a slightly flatter ride than the numerous "rollers" south on CR 284 (we ride those rollers on the way out to Oatmeal). The store stop is in Burnet at 37 miles. Total climbing is just under 2340 ft. according to RIDEwithGPS.

NOTE I: Helmets are required on ALL bike Austin rides.

NOTE II: I don't have maps, but Q-Sheets will be provided and the RIDEwithGPS versions are attached for electronic downloading.

NOTE III: Please arrive with you & your bike ready to ride 65 miles in time for a 7:45 AM ride start meeting so we can be rolling PROMPTLY at 8:00 AM. Bring plenty of drink & food for the ride distance.

NOTE IV: Start Location is the Liberty Hill Elemenmtary School on Loop 332. (No restroom facilities at ride start).

Lunch after the ride, for those interested (all are invited), at the Liberty Hill Corner Market/Deli.

SUNDAY August 28th, 2016 Ride leader Bo Lora I work at Amazon at the Domain so I figured, why not do a ride from there? So come join me to get a good workout and get out in the fresh ... morecountry air. We will ride 93 miles, just short of a century from the Domain. We will ride mostly downhill as we make our way to Bastrop and our second stop then we turn west toward Austin through the little town of Cedar Creek. We will ride by the F1 track, through Burleson road to the east side to make our last stop at an HEB then make our way back to the domain.
The total climbing: under 3000 ft. We will ride at a 14-17mph pace.

A relatively new 57 mile Liberty Hill ride!! We start/end from Tejas Park/Camp, on the North Fork San Gabriel River---north & east of the Ronald Reagan-TX 29 intersection on CR ... more258 (see start location map attached), and ride southwest thru Liberty Hill, before turning north to Bertram. We'll then head northeast going thru Mahomet before turning southeast to ride thru Andice on our way back to the Tejas Park/Camp. We'll be pedaling on some familiar roads, but also on some new roads for many of us---we will have mostly quiet, good surface, Central Texas roads. We climb just under 2200 ft. on this route--per RIDEwithGPS--most of the climbing in the first 30 miles of the ride. We'll have store stops at 24 (Bertam) and 47 (Andice) miles. For summer rides --- on the HOT days (Maybe in June or LATE April??)---plan to cool-off by sitting in the San Gabriel River at rides end!

NOTE I: Helmets are required on all Bike Austin rides.

NOTE II: I do not have maps; but Q-sheets will be provided. The RIDEwithGPS version is attached below for electronic downloading.

Some serious West Austin hills. Meet at Great Hills Starbucks and be ready to roll by 7:45 am sharp. We'll ride down 360 and do Hillbilly Lane. Back to Westlake Dr. and on to Toro ... moreCanyon. We'll scale The High Road and then Terrace Mountain. Out Bee Cave Road to Marly Way, Cuernavaca and River Hills. These are long and serious climbs in the 10-20% range. At least the scenery is fantastic, from Lake Austin to the hills along 360. After the suffering, it's a fairly routine cruise out Bee Cave Road and back then up 360 to Starbucks. We'll plan two stops, as needed, at Chevron on Bee Cave (mile 20) and Shell on Bee Cave (mile 37).

This is a VERY tough ride with total distance of 50 miles and elevation gain in the 4,000 ft range. Please come prepared for a tough day in the saddle. All of the major roads have wide shoulders and good pavement, but there will be traffic whizzing by at highway speeds. The average pace will be in the 14-16 mph range.

Coffee at Starbucks afterwards for those interested.
